Tahoe City is one of the nicest towns on the lake--large enough to have lots of places to go, but small enough to retain a rural flavor. The Tahoe City Marina is at the center of town. Its guest dock and guest moorings provide boating access to a wide range of restaurants, stores, and other businesses.
Just to the northeast of Tahoe City is the community of Lake Forest, which offers a campground and public launch ramp. The Coast Guard station is adjacent to the ramp.
Dollar Point to the east is a prime north shore residential area; it also has a nice small park with a public pier.
Immediately to the south, the Tahoe Tavern development and the private homes occupy most of the shoreline.
