Sightseeing by Boat

This is a selective listing of just a few of Lake Tahoe's many sightseeing destinations. We have listed mostly those that are best seen by boat or otherwise stood out in our minds.

See also listings for parks and campgrounds.

Fanny Bridge

Must see!, not for the fannys, but for a glimpse of the biggest rainbow trout you could ever hope to see, feeding beneath the bridge.

Boat Access: Tahoe City Marina; modest walk to center of town

Tahoe City, CA 96145

Fleur du Lac

One nice thing about Tahoe by boat is being able to see some beautiful architecture not accessible by land. Flower of the Lake offers no beaching, no docking, cool sightseeing, made famous by being used in (one of the) Godfather movies.

Gatekeepers Log Cabin Museum

Interesting look at the history of Lake Tahoe (and its boats), right around the corner from Fanny Bridge.

Boat Access: Tahoe City Marina; modest walk past center of town and just south on 89

130 West Lake Blvd.
Tahoe City, CA 96145
(530)583-1762

Whittell Estate

This private east-shore estate was built by Roy Whittell, an early Lake Tahoe eccentric who was the original owner of the Thunderbird. There is no public access, but it is fun to cruise by.
